There are a number of formal tools for managing project change, and they can be adapted to suit the needs of the project and the style of the organisation. PRINCE2® and other frameworks call for a register or log of changes and a process to formally request changes to such aspects of the project as scope, timelines and deliverables. Such a register records the following for each change: the problem/change title, originator, date notified, project manager approval date, sponsor/client/steering committee approval date, implementation notes and, if relevant, change to the project completion date.
